Scumbria,

RE:Cyrix' first product was a math coprocessor. I can't help but wonder why they allowed themselves to fall behind in floating point performance. It indicates a clear lack of market saavy on the part of management.

Even more bizarre, Cyrix has a high performance FPU in Cayenne which they seem UNWILLING to bring to the Socket 7/Slot 1 markets. Whoever made that decision is going to lose his job after the Winchip 2 hits the market!

Cyrix will be forced to price the MII at a DISCOUNT to IDT's Winchip 2. Am I the only person that can see this eventuality? Please tell me I'm not crazy.

Bob

I agree. It is amazing that Cyrix probably sells fewer chips at $69 a piece (PR233):
204.57.71.4@ctd+3+AND+@contents+6X86MX*+AND+@contents+PR233*&cnm=CPU
than Intel sells for 10 times as much:
204.57.71.4@ctd+3+AND+@contents+PENTIUM*+AND+@contents+II*+AND+@contents+400*&cnm=CPU
