Barney,
i always see these kind comments everyday last couple of days. in 99.99% of these cases its just no true. Datek has a lot of servers and if one of these is slow or down you just change the server...i can do that on the fly within seconds..so far it has worked for me. additionally, if i feel any significant slowdown in connection speed i switch my provider as well to see if its my provider and/or backbone (usually i stick with UUNET). End of the story: Datek is more or less ok for me.. and what is more there are connection probs with Cybertrader, Castle as well (no no..dont blame the internet technology for this, thats too simple). Somehow i have the impression that Cybertrader, MB trading are so fast (are they?) because they are still 'ramping up'.

I trade with Datek. I don't know if you are aware that they have at least 17 servers that I know of. Servers 7, 16, and 17 are their express servers with no confirmation or page changes required. Servers 1,2,3,6, and 8 are text type that Datek calls their classic servers, which are very fast. Servers 4,5,10,11, 13,14, and 15 are their JAVA servers and although slower than their Classic and Express servers are still the fastest I have seen anywhere else. I use Netscape 4.05 and under my personal links I have a folder with all servers listed. I have never seen all of Datek's servers down at one time. Some may be slower at market opens and closes etc, but at least you can keep several pages of netscape open at the same time with a different Datek servers open in each one. If you bookmark each server in one bookmark folder you should be able to always have at least one server available to you at all times for trading. If you do not know how to accsess their different servers, simply look at your location url and it will tell you which server you are connected to. Here is an example. orders2.datek.com. Just delete the number 2 in the url and replace it with any number from 2 to 17. Bookmark each one, put it into a bookmark personal folder or Link (mie) and you will soon be using your favorite server. If it should be slow or down, simply open the folder and try another. I hope this helps. Bgalliano@prodigy.net
