Had I lacked any patience, I would have sold off the small position I had in ENMD. As it was, I sold 1/3 of what I had to jump into REGN in February. I bought ENMD at 9. Thought I was a genius as it ascended to 12 without much hesitation....and watched it dissolve to 6. If I sold every stock that went down, or out of favor, I would have been out of stocks like INCY and SEPR two years ago. The few lessons I've learned have been: (a) don't sell unless the fundamental picture changes, and (b) look for well diversified, reasonably capitalized companies. Even with that, I think you use 25% for your $ for even more speculative ventures. I sold MEDI and IMNX in 1997 to chase "hot" stocks, after holding both for 2 years...and promptly missed 400% gains. In this society, which demands immediate gratification, it is hard to watch a stock wallow. I continue to hold a position in LGND.
