Just spent a few minutes browsing the World Trade Exchange site.

Feature that looks most promising to me, compared with PNL, is the "My Office" concept. At this point, just lets users set up their own address book . . . but could obviously be expanded upon to create a neat personalized workspace.

Otherwise, its ambitions don't look very sophisticated compared with PNL -- although it's hard to tell because the "Resources" section is still under construction. A wildcard. But WTE doesn't appear to be providing the business logic and the core business relationships that PNL offers. No indication that there'll be a logistics center to support sophisticated shipping, finance, insurance arrangements: no stated relationships with the strategic partners needed to underpin these logistical functions.

Also, PNL is licensing the Dun & Bradstreet database, whereas WTE is gathering information by inviting companies to enter themselves (free of charge) into a database. Obviously, that's a tough way to get started. From Day One, PNL will provide the robust, full-blown info that'll deliver value.

Ultimately, I'd see WTE competing for a different market space than PNL. Looks to me like WTE, at this point, is better suited for very straightforward retail transactions. Buying your Christmas greeting cards online in July. . . . Buying lame, recycled '70s hits (sorry disco fans and KTEL fans!). . . . Whereas PNL is entering the more sophisticated business-to-business transaction/logistics space.

First impressions only, from a very quick surf through the site.

This appears to be a simple listing concept. It has been put up before it is ready. There are many like this. PNLK is an EC vehicle not a yellow pages. IMHO

Probelm with this site is that you have to register to be known to the world. PNLK is doing their own legwork on this.

I did a search for companies within my industry and didn't find even 1
