ISDN:

I recently purchased a similar "set-up" from a local ISP , TST Onramp. They provide ISDN (the technology) modem access and bypass toll charges from the phone company. For ISDN modem access, GTE would charge me $45/mo plus $.01/min for usage. Using TST Onramp's DOV (Data Over Voice) technology, and a 3Com Impact IQ modem, I am not charged for the digital toll time, since GTE thinks it is a voice call.

Total cost for internet access, at 230K bps (with compression) is $45/mo GTE and $40/mo TST Onramp for a total of $95/mo. My webpages snap into view, no waiting even on multiple windows, and considering my billable hours, has paid for itself in a week.

So, in regards to ISDN's (the stock) potential, with the proper marketing I would say it is huge. I don't know if it will be KTEL or NAVR repeats, but this technology is here right now. No satellites, no waiting for cable modems, etc...
