If anyone is feeling lucky, I just daytraded GMGC on the long side. Running amok now. Last time it ran like this there was a big pullback the next day.

i think the consequences of doing this would be worse than raising rates.

Why? They don't want to stall the whole economy, just take out the excesses. The biggest excess is "asset inflation", "irrational exuberance", whatever. If they can let some air out of the bubble, perhaps they won't have to do more. Consider it a targeted strike intended to avert an all out war.

The market is up 40% in 18 months since he made his irrational exuberance remark. He is in a very percurious situation with limited options.
