Haskell joins AXCESS Inc. Board of Directors; New Director
Heads A Safeguard Scientifics (NYSE: SFE) Partnership Company

DALLAS, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- AXCESS Inc. (Nasdaq: AXSI - news; formerly Lasertechnics, Inc.)
announced that Gregory W. Haskell joined its board of directors on April 30. He will stand for
election with the company's other board members at the company's Annual Meeting to be held in
June in Dallas, TX.

Mr. Haskell is president and chief operating officer of XL Vision, Inc., a position he has held
since 1995. He helped to found the company in 1993 and has extensive experience in
imaging-related businesses, including 10 years specifically in the field of defense imaging.

AXCESS Inc.'s technology division, AXCESSVision, is currently working with XL Vision, Inc. XL
Vision specializes in the innovation and incubation of imaging technology companies. XL Vision
is a Safeguard Scientifics partnership company. The companies are developing optical dithering
technology and new multi-function digital imaging technology that will combine biometrics,
symbology and other card transaction applications. These new technologies have broad
application in card processing, access control, facilities management, retail, and the
financial marketplace.

''We are extremely pleased that Bill Haskell has joined our board at this time. XL Vision's
commitment to the long-term success of AXCESS Inc. is reinforced by his participation, and will
further strengthen our joint opportunities. With Bill directly involved on our team, AXCESS
Inc. and XL Vision can build on our alliance in a more timely manner and thereby rapidly bring
value to our common interests,'' said Richard C. E. Morgan, AXCESS Inc.'s chairman of the
board.

The new scanner/reader will be the first to employ a camera for two-dimensional image
acquisition, rather than a scanned linear system. This innovation allows faster throughput,
higher reliability, and significantly lower cost. The new system is expected to find wide use
in corporate facility access control systems that AXCESS Inc. will market through dealers and
integrators.

Mr. Haskell received an advanced degree in applied mathematics from Iowa State University.

AXCESS Inc., founded in 1982 as Lasertechnics, Inc., consists of two operating subsidiaries:
(1) AXCESS Inc. of Dallas, TX (majority-owned) which produces fraud-resistant wallet-size ID
cards, assembles and sells dye-sublimation card printers, and markets technology and solutions
for access management and control systems through dealers and integrators; and (2)
Lasertechnics Marking Corporation of Albuquerque, NM (wholly owned) which provides laser
marking systems and related technologies for a diverse range of industrial and commercial
markets.

John: With today's two announcements, I believe we are set to make some progress. Hopefully, there are investment firms that have been waiting for these changes and will now recommend that their clients get in. Let's look for some buy recommendations, then some solid contracts, then some profit, then at long last an increase in share price.

Always the optimist,

JP
