There's nothing more delightful than riding on the top of a local train with the wind blowing the smoke from the engine briskly to the side - on a warm day, laying down on a comfortable blanket, sharing a nice snack with a wonderful Indian conversationalist/philosopher.

That's living! Who says the quality of life is better in the West.

So, who will be joining me for my 50th? Mohan, Sam, Worswick?

Peter

P.S. Mohan - thanks for the references - I'll take a good look and let you know. Thanks again.

It is with great interest that I read your travels in India as I've never been to Inida.

Isn't it funny how there are really two sorts of people: the ones thriving in seeing the new, the difference of it all as to the accustomed places at home, the breathing of a different air, even if it stinks, and the other ones who think: "Oh, my God, please let me be back in Zurich tomorrow".

The other day I met two sales people from Renaissance Capital: I told them I had to travel once for business to Perm at the foot of the Urals in Russia, and how nice it was. It was in May 2 years ago, the weather was just beautiful and warm, people were hanging out in the late afternoon, eating ice cream at a Kiosk, with awful folk music blasting from a speaker. Of course the town is not scenic, but the mood was so relaxed, I just couldn't believe it! Anyway, the one Reaissance girl, who mainly works in Moscow said: "I've never heard anybody saying Perm was nice!" But it was nice for me. That's what I mean. Maybe I was just lucky...

Anyway, a great joy to read here.
