Apple readies announcements for later today On the first day of its worldwide developers conference, Apple Computer Inc. is expected to announce new PowerBooks, give more details on its recent deal with Macromedia Inc. and to discuss new consumer devices, all in a press conference starting at 10 AM PT. Meanwhile, the company's website (http://www.apple.com/) this morning was largely turned off to display only a short message saying, "You missed the big moment at Woodstock, the Moon landing and Geraldo's grand opening of Al Capone's vault.
