Interesting point! I have had over 2 dozen machines over a period of time of 20 years.

I have had 1 - reset switch fail after 7 years, and 2 hard disks while still in warranty. How much money should a company set aside for storing spare parts that may never be required? Currently, if you cannot repair the system yourself, the cost of repair will exceed the cost of replacement, and if you replace, you have all of the newest stuff.

Companies do not feel that they can afford to pay a technician $35-40K per year plus benefits to tinker with a system with the reliability records of the new systems. IMO

Another thing about replacement parts. It always seems to me that the part that I have worn out is the same part that everyone else has worn out (weakest link) and therefore spares are exhausted early in the life cycle.
