Mark,

By the time folks can get reliable 56K connections across the board, Apple will have a machine out that can take advantage of cable modems, etc.

With the built-in fast ethernet this model is cable-modem-ready already and one would guess Motorola will rev their current cable modems to fast ethernet in the future. Granted this only saves you $50 on the cable modem install, but it's great plug and play.

Dirk

Where do you live? I have access to several 56K ISPs all of which work at the promised speeds (SI messages download instantly, zero wait!).

Huh...even without a floppy drive the iMac is still more expandable, at least in terms of memory, than the Presario.

We are not talking if the IMAC is better than the Presario. I think it is, since is so much faster. What we are talking about is if the list posted will look impressive to Joe Six-pack.

It won't.

56K is widely available and is what sells on almost all new computers now days. This 33.3 modem will not make for great comparison side by side to a PC with 56K. Cable modems and DSL will be great with the Ethernet connection. But in 90 days when this thing ships, >99% of all consumers will still be using modems.
