Incidentally, a note at the bottom of

apple.com

says "Some configurations available only through the Apple Store."

So presumably consumers will be able to opt for different modems, etc.

How do you think Apple can change that bias, that negative perception?

There are many ways. The ads on TV are a good start. They better follow those with a series comparing the speeds and prices of the presario and the IMACs. The 56K modem was a mistake, any way you look at it. I hope they change that soon.

There was some guy on CNBC this morning who said that he was waiting for Apple to prove itself with a second positive quarter

I have no clue. This stock is a moderate buy. I don't know what he could be waiting for..

Linda says people biased against Mac-

<Many people are biased against the Mac and will make a face at the thought of buying one, even if it is twice as fast, and bundled with everything they need to use. How do you think Apple can change that bias, that negative perception? >

Linda, Ian, anyone- Is this true? My perception is Macintosh has about the strongest brand loyalty of any product. We are loyal.

Volvo comes close.

I thought Macintosh's strong reputation is for ease of use.

Office98 runs on the Mac, the Mac can read and write wintel floppies and zips and files on a network or internet. You can emulate windows fast enough to do about anything but 3d-shoot-em-ups. "this Mac is compatible with windows- no problem."

Aside- I must use my mac on occasion to translate win95 files to the closest equivalent NT program by first taking them home to my mac.

another aside-

Anybody think this iMac would make a nice NC?

I was not disapointed today- on the contrary, Apple is firing on all cylinders.
