What does AWRE licensing have to do with the central
office side, I'm wondering? I'm trying to make a case
for where the money's going to go. For example, if...

- client-side modems are commodity items
- AWRE getting royalties on host-side
- LU controls 60% of central office hardware

then that's a lock on a WHOLE LOT of host-side connections.

My questions would be ...

- what are terms of AWRE licenses?
- are they standard (probably not) or vary by licensee?
- what are specific terms of LU license?
- will the licensed technology be used in host-side adapters?
- what is LU's projection of host-side adapters?

I guess where I am heading is that the LU deal may have
very disproportionate advantages to AWRE revenue because
of LU's market share on the upstream side of the connection.

I just don't know enough of the facts ... any insights, boys?
