Ingram Micro Lures away two Dell executives. Does anyone think Ingram Micro might eventually be gaining market share from Dell. I found the article below on the Yahoo thread. Ingram has opened one BTO facility in Memphis that can build 2 million computers a year. They also will be opening ones in Europe, S. America, Asia and Canada. Ingram has been up over 3 points in the past 2 days on heavier than usual volume. Ingram Micro Lures Away Two Dell Executives -- Hiring A Dream Team By Scott Campbell When distributor Ingram Micro Inc. planned its channel assembly strategy to attack Dell Computer Corp.'s direct business model, it went right to the source for more ammunition. Ingram Micro, Santa Ana, Calif., hired two executives away from Austin, Texas-based Dell to become part of its Frameworks channel assembly team. Saeed Ghaderi, who spent a decade as an employee at Dell, has been named Frameworks' vice president of engineering, while Tom Lohnes, who spent eight years working at the direct PC maker, is now Frameworks' new vice president of global materials. Ed Pensel, senior vice president of global configuration operations, hired the pair when he was given the opportunity to recruit anyone he wanted for Ingram Micro's growing channel assembly initiative. "This was a dream come true," said Pensel of the opportunity to pull together his own channel assembly dream team. "Saeed was employee No. 23 at Dell; he'd been there since the beginning. He brings the direct-model experience of how to add engineering to OEM product to ship out a quality system," Pensel said. "With Tom, he will bring the ability to help us add value to the OEM component." The distributor's goal is to deliver a system to end users within 72 hours of order-placement with a reseller, said Jerre Stead, Ingram Micro chairman and chief executive. "That's the game. That's the job we will do," he said.
