Ray: I had only had my CBOT ticket for a short while - when my sister-in-law's boyfriend took me onto the floor. He was what was then called - a "two dollar' broker...traded mostly for his own account but also executed orders (for $2.00?) for Kidder and a couple of others. At that time, he was only trading in two pits: silver and beans..."Don, you go where the action is".....Pointed out to me the big hitters - representing the commercials...some of these guys also traded more than one commodity. Says I, "why don't you just copper their plays?" " Not that easy , says he" they may be arbing big positions held in other markets, versus warehouse stocks,etc" Fascinating...Not a game for the timid. When the trading ended... most drank lunch, he said. (As I had been a broker for many years - this did not come as a real big surprise to me). Best, Don
