'ole Fleck, yea. he's just another idiot that happened to pick the top of the Japanese bubble to short it and made millions in '89. I wouldn't worry about anything he has to say. Blow it off. Keep buying :) 60x earnings isn't that expensive when we're talking about DELL "the plastic box w/ chips in it" maker. I say send it higher...........

>>Speaking of gloom and doom, check out Fleckenstein's comments on Dell at... <<

Fleckenstein was also saying intel would hit fifty last year. He may
be right that Dell is over valued, but companies with great earnings
growth over several years tend to correct by moving side ways for
several months rather than dropping significantly.

IMO shorting Dell is like playing chicken with a train.

Ian,
Patterson makes a lot more sense than Fleckenstein which ain't saying much. From his answer it seems the great Fleck hasn't looked at Dell at all in a couple years. His rant hasn't changed a bit.

Ian, one of the oddest things about Fleckenstein is that he claims that Dell operates in a business with no barriers to entry. If that's the case, why is it that no company has been able to emulate Dell's business model. That model is the barrier to entry.

Ian

re Fleckenstein You pay a big fat premium to get a cheery consensus and have everyone pat you on the back telling you how smart you are (while your stock goes no where and everyone else's goes screaming higher).

Or one could follow Fleckenstein's advice, short DELL, and experience the wonderful feelings of a short squeeze and margin calls. <g>
