IKE, you seem to be trapped in "speculation 101." Can't you add something a little deeper to your analysis? Like, for example, something pertinent.

Chief I hope you don't mind if I do the correcting:

On November 10, 1997, Roy Wares, P.Eng., was advised by means of a faxed letter, signed by Colin Watt on behalf of David Patterson, CEO, Donner Minerals Ltd. (formerly Donner Resources Ltd.), that Donner had received preliminary drill logs from Teck Corporation on holes 97-79 and 97-86, drilled on the Cypress/Donner joint venture. Two drill holes, totalling 1402.0 m have been completed. Hole 97-86 is located 820 metres south of Hole 97-79. Both holes are located in claim licence 2663M. Donner Minerals Ltd. is the operator of the joint venture.

According to the information and drill logs provided, Hole 96-106 was to be drilled at UTM 568,204E, 6,143,949N commencing on Tuesday, November 11, 1997. Hole 97-106 is located 2,700 metres west of hole 97-79.

Hole 96-79, which was drilled vertically and collared at UTM 570,700E, 6,143,800N was completed on October 24, 1997. The hole was terminated in fine to medium grained olivine gabbro carrying disseminated one to five percent pyrrhotite with traces chalcopyrite. The hole was cased and at a later date a heavier drill machine will be positioned to drill to a greater depth. A total of 15 samples have been submitted for assay and no assays to date have been received on the disseminated sulphide mineralization.

Hole 97-86, drilled vertically to a depth of 701.0 m, was collared at UTM 570,900E, 6,143,000N. The hole intersected fine to medium grained olivine gabbro to a depth of 657.2 m and foliated paragneiss below 657.2 m. The hole intersected a 0.6 m section (645.05 m to 645.65 m) with semi-massive (45-55%) pyrrhotite with traces chalcopyrite. The hole intersected a 0.2 m section (646.7 m to 646.9 m) of massive (80-85%) pyrrhotite with traces chalcopyrite. The hole was completed on November 10, 1997. A total of 18 samples have been submitted for assay. Assay data has not been received to date by Donner Minerals Ltd.

Drilling and sample handling was carried out under direct supervision of Teck Corporation personnel. The assays are processed by XRAL Laboratories, a division of SGS Canada Inc., Don Mills, Ontario.

Hi Ike. Read my comment to John L. All exploration data must be released. I will take up your example of the CYP drill program as an example.
Here is an excerpt from the 16 Jun 1997 NR for CYP

"Several drill holes have intersected sulphide mineralization, some of which has been classified as leopard troctolite, the same rock type that is associated with the massive Voisey's Bay nickel-copper-cobalt discovery to the north. The Mineral Hill showing, one of the most heavily-mineralized targets along a 15km long gossan zone, will be a primary target in the upcoming field season which will include extensive geophysics and diamond drilling. Airborne geophysics has identified a series of anomalies which are approximately coincident with these gossan zones.
Cypress is encouraged with the fact that Teck has announced publicly its high expectations for the South Voisey's Bay project which appears to be the most prospective in the region to host another Voisey's Bay-type deposit. "

MY COMMENT: This is an example of a failed drill program that got sub-economical values of sulphides during the previous drill program. Or in laymans terms "DUDS". Albeit "duds" that give you information, (like where not to drill) like where the anomaly is situated magnetically, etc. etc.

So, in fact the failed drill program was announced in an NR as being the prime driver for further drilling. But, at this time they were actually throwing darts at the board trying to figure out where to drill next. It aslo was being theatrically staged as the precursor to the 1997 drilling program.

This is the "subtle difference" between what you inferred in your original comment and what is real.

1) A company that has duds, says we found nothing, albeit with "flowers"
2) A company that has 6 of 6 holes with good results, reports all six
3) A company with 3 of 6 holes successfull MUST report the whole drill program. The rules are if you open your mouth to tell your shareholders the "good" news you must also state the bad news.

Prime example Cross Lake Resources. read there releases. One hole wonder, then copper holes, then dilluted sulphides, then duds!!!
