Like all silicon vendors, Microchip's tools are merely a means to an end. They are the path to selling more silicon. Microchip's total tool sales to date number in the hundreds of thousands. That kind of sales will not add a great deal to the bottom line.
What it does mean is that there tools can perform up to the limits of their chips. This is something that was not previously possible with the existing tools.
MCHP will probably struggle for the next two quarters to break into the upper thirties. I have little to base that on other than history and the market conditions, including the competition. There is some softness in the marketplace now. MCHP will be affected like everyone else.
