Katherine, No doubt about it. There are a lot of lazy novices out there that are looking for the "Mr. Rileys" out there to tell them what to buy and sell. They don't want to take the time to learn to do their own analysis or what makes a good long term versus short term trade. A couple of easy hits and they are hooked into thinking that this is the greatest way to make money. Along the way they forgot to learn that for every winner there's a loser. But if they stay in long enough, they will lose sometimes. I find that the laziest ones crow the loudest on how smart they are when they win and are the quickest to blame someone else when they lose. These people are basically insecure. As for the elderly Aunt Nancys. When you want the Government to prevent you from hurting yourself because of stupidity or naivete, financial or otherwise, then you give up a big chunk of your freedom. I'm not ready for that and don't ever want to be. I cherish my right to make stupid decisions. However, unlike many others, I don't cry foul when I'm wrong. I take responsibility for my bad decisions and try to learn from them. However, with all the mewling that I hear when speculative issues go bust (IOMG, OCCF, PRTK, etc) it looks like there a lot of stupid and irresponsible people out there that want big brother to protect them from themselves. Of course, the Government is only too willing to comply as it gives them more power and control. (But that's another story.) I might not want my "Aunt Nancy" to go to Vegas with her girlfriends and her pension money but, if she is of sound mind and body, I won't deny her the right to do so. And I will protect her right to listen to other people's half baked opinions and then tell them that they are half baked. I have faith in capitalism. Q. If Mr. Riley' $1K advice is wrong most of the time, how many people do you think will continue to pay him $1K a year? A. Probably only the stupid ones. Tony P.S. Thank you for the intelligent discourse.
