Wall Street Journal has an article today about TCI developing
home banking, etc. on Java, not NT. Prasara ALREADY HAS HOME
BANKING, and all that jazz that goes with it. FOR EXAMPLE:
You come home tired, you sit down and turn you set top on. You
are already on line (no logging on crap). You click to food, a
menu comes up, you click on Chinese, a menu comes up. You make a
selection, a picture of the dish comes up. You select all items
you want and you get a confirmation with the total amount due and
that the food will be delivered to your home in 30-35 minutes.
Then you click on home banking (secure service, not on the NET),
move funds from savings to checking in a couple of clicks. Then
you click on movies, select "action movies", etc. make your
selection and start the movie. Fast forward through the previews, and bull at the front. The phone rings, hit pause and
answer the phone (or if you are screening calls you let the answering machine answer and you click over to see who is calling). You start movie again and the food arrives, same thing,
hit pause, etc. You get the picture. AND YOU PAY THE SAME PRICE
FOR THE MOVIE THAT BLOCKBUSTER CHARGES. ALSO, IN THE FUTURE
THEY THINK NEW MOVIES WILL BE MADE JUST FOR VOD.
