scott, i am not trained as a medical researcher but you might check some of the inf. i have posted on the genta thread. they are in advanced human trials with good success for genetic compounds that disarm the gene that makes cancer cells immortal and lymphoma is one of those trials. do a search on G3139 (the compound) in one of the search engines and you will turn up plenty of inf. i also posted a link to a detailed Lancet article which has tables and diagrams etc. relating to the trials.

Scott:
I am sorry to hear about your friend. Melanoma is one of the hardest malignanicies to treat, especially if it has spread. Right now, Interferon appears to be the best show in town. There are trials of an immunostimulant vaccine, but I cannot recall the name of the company. This sounds promising. There are a couple of sites on the web that list clinical trials for certain indications. Just put "clinical trial" into any search engine and see what you get.
MD Anderson in Houston has alot of innovative therapy trials as does any major cancer center. I am not sure where your friend is located, but there are many strong regional centers. I wish you and her luck. Dan

OT - Scott, there was an article on cancer in my local Sunday paper and it listed some phone numbers for cancer trials:

888-9-CANCER (Agouron - Informs patients on open trials)
800-526-7736 (J&J - Basic info on open trials)
800-422-9675 (Merck - Basic info on open trials)
888-223-4372 (Schering-Plough - Patient screening line listing open trials)
800-4-CANCER (NCI hotline)

Hope they can be of some help.
