Got this right out of a Korean newspaper. I doubt you can find this in the US press.

>>With the Korean Federation of Trade Union's announcement of a general strike from the end of May to the beginning of June, investors already skeptical of the Korean market caused stock values to fall farther to bottom out Wednesday at 376.23 points, the lowest since December 26 of last year. Banks were particularly hard hit among the 12 billion won in stocks that foreign investors sold during the day.<<

The key point in the above excerpt is, "the lowest since December 26." The Korean market has reached the same bottom it did last year, at it's worst point, yet look at how our market is doing now, compared to how hard we were hit late last year. Pretty puzzling. I'm feeling it will be a matter of time when suddenly a bunch of analysts jump on the SEA bandwagon again and scare investors. But not before they lighten up first.

Isn't it just amazing how five months ago, the problems in SEA were going to wreck extreme havoc on the entire civilized world, yet today, the problems are even worse, but are "good" for us because it keeps inflation down! I wonder how long that argument is going to hold up? I wonder who(and when) decides it's not so good afterall? Must have something to do with those private hot lines. :)

PS It does appear I was wrong on the Jakarta Composite. I know I wasn't wrong in reading it at 8:15PM but must have had something to do with yesterday's numbers somehow.
