I think Jeff means the laser based system(Cymer EX-5000/5700) SVGL introduced about a year ago. SVGL is just competing with the other stepper vendors and it's having a rough time, because they haven't had their foot in many doors.

Further clarification on the NYT article. Bob is right about SVGI's "own laser-based" machines using CYMI lasers. The article used the word "laser" to differentiate the new line of CYMI excimer steppers from the old line of i-line (some sort of normal light) -based steppers.

I hope this clears it up if Bob's explanation didn't.
