you mentioned that the web page of the Frankfurt Exchange states that US residents may not buy stock options in Frankfurt.
I have asked around and think I have the answer to why that is so.
It seems to be US tax law. It's harder for the tax authorities in the US to evaluate them. By the way,US residents may also not buy Euro
Bonds. Under US law that is.
If a US resident contacts a German broker (or one in Luxembourg for instance) he will get what he wants to buy. The European brokers are not bound by US law. Please don't understand this as an instigation to evade US taxes. Please abide by the tax laws of your country of
residence.
