The answer is, yes!

They will keep the brands separate. Do you know what happened to all those Studebaker dealers?

They became Mercedes-Benz dealers. That association did not degrade Merc.

Btw, unlike the aforementioned Studebaker, Chrysler is considered among the very top today - its designs and management are superlative. Chrysler also makes more $$$/car than any other automaker in the world. Chrysler's Achille's heel has been quality, an area where Daimler is almost w/o peer.

I did read that Daimler approached Honda first, but was rebuffed.
