PUMPING UP THE ETHANOL OPTION
Some subsidy supporter looking beyond corn.
7 percent of the corn produced is blended into 12 percent of the gasoline sold in the US.

DOE is very supportive of the tax credit to aid in thr reduction of greenhouse emissions from transportation fuels.

Archer Daniels Midland Ethanol production accounts for 2.5 percent of it 14 billion dollars in revenue.

Ethanol is generally blended in a one to nine ratio.
The union of concerned scientists are excited about blends of ethanol that are85 percent alcohol in contrast to the more widely used 10 percent ethanol blend. The higher the blend the better for the enviroment, requires engine modification, while the ten percent can be used in existing engines.

DOE is also funding companies to develop a microbial process that uses many different types of raw material.
The DOE is working with a private investor in Louisiana that would manufacture ethanol from sugar cane .

Keep up the good work US goverment.
