RE: Competition from Teledesic someday -- Some of you are forgetting that Teledesic is a Fixed Satellite Service. It is licensed under the FSS rules and proposes in its planning to use 18GHz uplinks that require coordination before installation and operation. There is no reasonable prospect for "taking a Teledesic USAT on the road," assuming the constellation flies at all, absent a major revamping of the FCC's spectrum coordination practices and policies. If Teledesic wanted to be mobile, they had the opportunity to get licensed under the Mobile Satellite Service rules (e.g., Iridium, Globalstar) but they did not.
