Wisam:

I read a book in high school called "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovitch" by Alexander Solzhenitsen. I thought it was an excellent book.

I agree. I read that in one sitting at the library one rainy Saturday, and it was my introduction to Solzhenitsyn's (that's the preferred spelling of his name) works. Unfortunately, when I graduated to "Cancer Ward" and "August 1914" I found the text too hard to follow, possibly due to the lack of dialog. I last heard of Solzhenitsyn writing a definitive history of the Russian Revolution. I don't know whether or not it's been published yet.

My current reading drifts toward historical non-fiction; I'm wading through Daniel Yergin's "The Prize" at the moment. I suppose I could buy the PBS video series, but where's the fun in that?
