The fact is, while the Open Text search technology used to be used in a 'search engine', Open Text is not a 'search engine company'. So, the company trades on fundamentals, not hype. But at least these are good fundamentals.

Turns out the BIG money is in being a "portal". However only 3 or 4 portals can exist...the rest are just not that credible and their valuations cannot all be sustained, though I think some can.

OTEXF is valued appropriately at $15-20. The market is likely waiting to see what becomes of this acquisition program, after all OTEXF raised all that money. Has anyone heard anything?

Anyway, management's decision to turn this into a document management/workflow/intranet company and wave the white flag early on in the battle with YHOO et al. showed great foresight. Many other companies would have waged the losing battle and wound up trading for pennies.
