I might define the Work of God as 1. determining before hand 2. prior knowledge 3. choosing before hand. In Psalms 19:1 we find that all things were created for God's glory ( us included ). For if the heavens and the firmament sheweth His handiwork how much more so should we ? In the 8th chapter of John Christ gets into a lengthy discussion with Jews who were Abraham's seed. In vs. 39 he tells them if you were Abraham's seed you would do the works of Abraham; Vs. 40 " but now ye seek to kill me".. vs. 44 "ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do". The reply in vs. 48 was " say we not well that thou art a Samaritan and hast a devil " . Those men were trying to discredit the very nationality of Christ. Christ tells them if they heed his saying they shall never taste death. The Jews then almost laughed Him off the face of the earth and responded , saying Vs. 53 art thou greater than Abraham and the prophets who all died ? and told him " "whom makest thou thyself," we could all put that into the vernacular. vs 54 Christ says " of whom ye say that he is your God " ( didn't exactly pull any punches there ) and in vs. 58 " verily I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM ! And in their 5th attempt took up stones to kill Christ of which there were more attempts to be made. I guess my point is that we have a very dedicated army of believers here on the Christian threads of SI. I would like to pray a prayer of protection for you and the rest of us. If this isn't the front line I don't know where it is ? These posts are a memorial to our heavenly father and for all we know a permanent record in cyberspace. I therefore wish to lift us all up on this national day of prayer and Lord help all of us to become fully clothed in the armor that you provide. Amen.
