The Phila Inquirer had an article about the concern over Dow 10k. They quoted Birinyi & Assoc., and Ralph Acampora. I don't know whether it has anything to do with embedded chips, but I sure would like to see Tava take advantage of PR by offering an opinion one way or another.
For those who haven't read anything on this subject, the concern is the fifth digit and how program trading may react.

Hi John. Don't know the answers to your questions. Could be that Cowles is not thinking beyond y2k right now. (Of course, "y2k" can mean work well after year 2000.)

My sense is that because of the urgency of the y2k/utilites problem, Cowles felt "the rest be damned, I'm going with the organization with the mostest: TAVA".
