It was, indeed. Winter of 1811-12, all three estimated at 8.1-8.4. We're talkin' big mamas, here. Saving grace is that the return period is estimated at >1000 years, but then again, who really knows?

The interesting part of the deal (OK, one of the interesting things) is that the Reelfoot Rift and its limbs extend throughout much of the midwest; an extension of the rift, the Cabin Creek (?) zone, goes east clear across Kentucky into West Virginia. Don't wanna be accused of spreading FUD, but seismic activity could be generated anywhere along this thing. Whooee.

Did you happen to catch Penni's latest to Graystone? If I wasn't such a hard-boiled poop, I'da cried.
