I think it's the effect of savvy housewives buying in. Most of these women have seen their husbands sucked into SI for so long they can't remember their kids names. My wife for instance, has never used SI but wanted to buy go2net as soon as she heard the merger news.

Yes.

BTW, who was the guy in the middle - sitting to Mark Haynes right hand? InfoSeek? Excite? I can't remember, but he was a real self-serving SOB throughout. He couldn't answer a question or give a comment without saying how -his- company was the best at everything they did, to the exclusion of all others. It was obvious that he alone didn't come there to be part of a "panel" to discuss the Internet in generic terms, but rather to tout his own company. I hope they exclude him from the next panel.
