Huge News Monday? n-Mac to be announced during WW Developers Conf., Monday, May 11? $999? and faster than ANY PENTIUM II at any price....this NETWORK MAC could be HUGE, IMO Hi, I am an Apple Education Sales Agent (but don't work for Apple) and have no inside information but I think there is another BIG blockbuster product announcement coming Mon. morn. I know Job's style and I think he is saving this one for the big Satellite Broadcast. Also, the education market for Apple Computer, I can tell you, is getting stronger every day. The word is getting out that Apple is on solid footing again, has an even clearer speed and multimedia advantage over Wintel, and is cheaper to support. Many school are buying Virtual PC for their G3 Mac's and getting a WIntel and Apple machine in one box...it's only $139. I don't know if you guys know this, but the latest G3 "All in One" Mac at 266mghz. comes free with a program called Avid Cinema Kit, which allows even 3rd graders to create, EASILY....full frame, full motion Hollywood style movies. I also has 2 headphone jacks, a TV scan converter to hook up to a classroom TV, etc. Schools are very interested in MM for teaching and learning and this machine at $1,799 is a great deal. It is just about to ship. The i-Mac will not be the primarily unit sold to schools, as the 2 current ALL IN ONE machines are geared specifically for education, but some will want it. The consumer channel will love it and I am glad Apple is not going to under-produce the unit at first (as they test the waters)...they clearly KNOW, the i-mac will be a success and are making boatloads of them. I loved this comment: "The iMac was so impressive that software maker Intuit, which recently announced that it would no longer make its Quicken software for the Mac, changed its mind, Jobs says". Dave
