The bottom line is: if microsoft sees your product/service as a threat to its monopoly, it has the right to copy then integrate what you offer into the OS. Cases in point: browser, Java, NC, TCO.

Absolutely correct. They do have the right to do that. As does everyone else. Except others didn't think of it first - MS did. If Sun had integrated a browser into Solaris or Apple into OS8 (or Rhapsody), people would be carrying them through the streets on their shoulders.

What you are basically saying is "all OS developent has to stop now. No new features, that are avaialble elsewhere, can ever be added to the OS by anyone." Is that what you want?
Hey, did you know Mac OS8 is still based on OS7, which was based on OS6, which was based on OS5, which was based on OS4...all the way back to the original! Can you believe it? Still working in '80s technology!
