I'm curious, does Sun ship a browser by default with Solaris? Or on a "contrib" CD alongside?

Regardless of which side (I'm side-less) the current debate you may be on, I wonder how you feel about govt meddling in business in general.

I'm opposed.

For example, I think in the PC business there'd be a lot more "Osbornes" and other such failures if we ended up with a whole bunch of desktop OS's and varied desktop hardware architectures. The unification of the IBM PC as a defacto standard, followed by PC DOCS and MS DOS and then Windows -- was a good thing for the PC Industry. Many millionaires made, even outside of Microsoft. What would have happened if the US had rules to prevent that early consolidation or if an over-intrusive govt had forced a spilt up a couple of years ago.

Another topic, I didn't post anything earlier on the "Windows 98 delay to cause economic disaster" discussion. However, it seems clear that there will be some impact. A lot of ISV's target their release dates to coincide with events like Win98 release -- and benefit from the overall market awareness that happens. I'm sure there will be some missed revenue opportunities for a broad group of ISV's if this current issue continues.

JMO.
