Membrane Expert to Direct SLiM(TM) Commercialization

NEW YORK, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Commodore Separation Technologies, Inc. (OTC
Bulletin Board: CXOT - news) announced today that Dr. W.S. Winston Ho, a
world-renowned leader in the development of membrane separation technology, has been
named Senior Vice President, Technology.

''Dr. Ho is considered one of the world's foremost experts in the development and
commercialization of membrane technology,'' said Paul E. Hannesson, Commodore
chairman and CEO. ''Early in his career, Dr. Ho worked at Allied Chemical where he
invented and developed the membrane solvent extraction process in the early 1970s. Later
working for Xerox and Exxon, Dr. Ho has had 27 years of research and development
experience in membrane and separation process. A New Jersey Inventor of the Year of
1991, Dr. Ho holds more than 40 U.S. patents in membrane and separation processes.''

Dr. Ho is immediate past chairman of the Separation Division, American Institute of
Chemical Engineers. He is co-author and editor with Dr. K. Sirkar, Distinguished
Professor, Chemical Engineering, Sponsored Chair at the New Jersey Institute of
Technology, of the preeminent book on membranes, Membrane Handbook. For this book,
Drs. Ho and Sirkar received the Professional and Scholarly Publishing Award for the most
outstanding engineering work in 1993. A native of Taiwan, Dr. Ho holds an undergraduate
degree from National Taiwan University and both a Masters and Ph.D. in chemical
engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

''Commodore's advanced technology has wide commercial applications,'' said Dr. Ho. ''To
lead the company's technical program to commercialization is a wonderful challenge. I'm
delighted to join a company that will be a world leader in membrane separation
technology.''

Dr. Sirkar, a renowned separation scientist in his own right, said, ''Winston Ho is a brilliant
scientist and engineer who has the commercialization experience to direct the
implementation of Commodore's supported liquid membrane (SLiM(TM)) process. His
years at Exxon, Xerox and Allied Chemical have prepared him perfectly to lead the
technical/commercialization process at Commodore.''

The Commodore SLiM(TM) process can selectively remove, for recycling or disposal,
materials from aqueous based solutions in both private and public sector industries.

Commodore Separation Technologies is 87% owned by Commodore Applied Technologies,
Inc. (ASE: CXI). The Commodore companies are engaged in the commercialization of new
