I haven't studied feline behavior in mid-tidal wave, but: A cat-play, for all its frills and pawings, is a LONG play, and so should be more likely to do well in a situation that doesn't resemble a tidal wave. In general, you want signals to occur in bullish circumstances; you certainly want the days after to be as bullish as possible.
The relationship between tidal waves and cats may become quite clear imminently<gg>: Tidal waves fill the cathouse.
