You must understand by now that
valuation means NOTHING when it comes to these stocks

you dont understand buffett's point do you
or see the problem with your statement

I'd like to know what web browser you were using 5 yrs ago and who your ISP was
back then. I'm talking 1993 and I think you're full of it!

robert
I suggest you do research and see what was available 5 years ago.
I was on the net in 1993 and there were websites in 1993 (maybe not as you know them today..but information was out there to get..it may have been 1994 before it really got going...cant remember...but I remember accessing info off the net in 1993 and talking with people all over the world off the net in 1993)

It amazes me how you can talk about how far things have come...when you dont even know what was going on 5 years ago

You obviously think valuation is of no concern on these stocks.

I have no comment as to what I think about that.

Personally I think you would have to be crazy to short these internet stocks right now. I would wait for them to run up and break new highs again. Seek is holding tight while the market pulls back. All you need is one piece of good news and SEEK will be back to 45. There would have to be a major correction in the market to see SEEK back to the 15$ - 20$ range. Shorting when SEEK goes below 29 may be conventionally sound, but this is not a conventional stock.

Robert
Here is an example of how people access the net in Germany.
Ask yourself how long you would stay online and how much surfing you would do if you paid the phone company by time ticks.

Still doing research on your other claims to determine the reality versus the hyperbole.
Telephoned a friend in Turkey and when I asked him if telephone costs were coming down he laughed so hard he darn near pierced my eardrum.

Re situation in Germany:

a) you pay (through your nose, base on time ticks) to make local calls. There's nothing
like a local 24h call at 75cents
b) you pay the local provider for internet access (through your nose, or you can chose
any other ... access point on your body) based on different schemes. The simplest is x
hours connect time for free, like the first 2hrs in the month, and then time based .... etc

One of these providers (of course) is the German Telecom. At this very moment Im
paying two masters: Telecom, to make the local phone call (must be somewhere close
to 2 $ now because is 00:10 am here and its the night rate g) plus AOL - which comes
to a monthly bill of cca 25$ (not more, Im not dependent on this substance , ie I cant
afford to ;)

The ticker symbol for Telecom is DTE, its somewhere at all-time high. I think due to its
well-done public offering in 96 I think the DAX member with the largest base (and I
think also the largest market cap). I do think its offered on WS also.

And I think (one more time - g), so I am, as Descartes said, respectfully yours

DJ
