U.S. GULF:ÿ Houston-based EEX Corp. entered an agreement with Shell Offshore to acquire a 12.5 percent interest in Atwater Valley Blocks 118, 119, 162 and 163.ÿ Other participants in the four-block unit include Chevron and Enterprise Oil.ÿ Shell is operator of the unit, but Chevron will operate the first well in the area.ÿ Chevron will drill the well in the Block 118/119 area utilizing Global Marine's new drillship GLOMAR EXPLORER.ÿ The new drillship is expected to be delivered in about seven days and will mobilize immediately for the project.ÿ The well will be drilled in approximately 7,800 feet waters, setting a new world record.
