Hopefully Microsoft's problems are isolated pretty-much to Microsoft. If Windows 98 is held back, I can't believe it would slow hardware sales much, or hamper sales by ERP software vendors.

Most of those Microsoft partners who backed Gates the other day had alot to lose (from Microsoft) if they didn't show. I kept thinking how many of their products' device drivers are built into Windows.

Still, the DOJ spectre is not helpful for confidence in tech stocks near term. However, the tech stocks (represented in the MSH, for example) are very strong right now.

In my opinion, the DOJ's intervention is the best thing that can happen for US technology competitiveness. I think Microsoft should ever be able to do again what they did to Netscape.
