It's that last sentence that tells the tale. "We will also be attempting to gauge at the conference the current level of commitment from software developers and will be soliciting their views on Apple's recent strategic initiatives." I've said before that lack of software on the Mac is a non-issue for most Macintosh users. The exception to that, as Linda Kaplan will tell you, is that there are areas of functionality (e.g. streaming quotes) where the selectivity is limited enough to cause concern. However, saying that, there is a STRONG MISCONCEPTION outside the Macintosh camp that Macintosh software is SEVERELY LIMITED. More importantly, the perception that developers were abandoning the platform reared its ugly head last year during the market share meltdown. The shadow of that perception has not been washed out by the morning light of this AAPL blossom Spring. IF the WWDC shines bright over the "field of dreams" for both OS 8.1 and Rhapsody, giving the impression of a bumper crop of software, Macintosh futures will be upgraded, and the stock will start to trade at prices more defined by its newly formed PE. hoo roo, HerbVic
