>>One thing I am sure of.....IOM will build a ZIP that connects.<<

A Zip drive with a USB connector?

That's like having access to the Autobahn, and selecting a Yugo as the means of transportation.

Re: iMac
Does anyone else think the dusty insides of a computer would be an eye-sore? Maybe they'll include a vac or duster for it ;o)

Re: Upgrade
I thought you could upgrade the RAM, and how many people upgrade processors anymore. As far as the other parts, disk drive, video card, modem etc. those oftentimes aren't worth transferring to new machines. I do, however, hope those USB peripherals are out soon for iMac's sake.

Michael, first off, I'm not a resident IOM bear&#151just somewhat bearish at this point in time. The iMac does not seem "darn expensive". To hack a recent quote, you can have "yesterday's computer for $999 or tomorrow's computer for $1299."

Upgrade&#151as I previously mentioned, it "appears" that several initial configs are available. Box design can't be adequately assessed from looking at a .jpg on the web. Apple has had several designs which adequately cover that of which you speak in a simple and straight-forward manner. (7500's were a great design for ease of access, for example).

ADSL to be widely available by the end of the year? No, that's way too optimistic(!)&#151let me know when 10% of this thread has it. Betcha cable modem access grabs more marketshare than xDSL by that time. ;-)

I'm not an IOM "perma-bear", but releases like this do limit IOM's market, IMO. Apple won't be the only company coming out with this type of product. You'll get some Wintel entrants, too. Could impact IOM. FTR, I used to have IOM; got out last Fall.
