Christine, still spitting it out huh? >>The witch burnings during the Inquistion, and the Holocaust, are certainly two examples where there were many wonderful Christian individuals who were compassionate, but still a lot of men who were either ordered by their churches, or thought mistakenly that they were acting out correct Christian religious beliefs, still ended up doing horrible things.<< Where is your proof that these were followers of Christ? Would not His very teaching convict them? >>Certainly, making Eve from Adam's rib would be one example of symbolism that makes men more important.<< This certainly does not bother my wife, are you a libber? >>A big help would be to model all of that by changing some of the male references in hymns and the Bible and sermons and ceremonies and rituals to female references, or at least making them gender neutral<< yes I can see you would change the word of God to suit you..... >>I am really curious as to why almost everyone refers to God as "he". How do we really know?<< Be curious no more,--- (John 14:9-10 NIV) Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. If you are speaking of Mary, the mother of Jesus, she does have a revered place. But it is not a place of an idol, she is not to be worshipped. ps- my wife re-afirms that she does not mind coming from a rib, she just wants men to stand up and use the ones they have left, and be the spiritual leaders of the family. That will cure a lot of problems in the world. dan
