Hi-
I am not certain what Art Bonnell's(sp)time frame was...
Elizabeth Bramwell was on CNBC-she used to work with Gabelli and
I think she is brilliant..she said merger activity was going to slow
down shortly since it is going to take time to make computers compliant with year2000..I thought that was a very interesting spin..
the companies will obviously combine their IT(or whatever the buzz
word is these days)
she implied the problems would be fixed...
I wonder if these professional money managers with huge contacts and
huge research budgets know more than the long term programmers?
I also wonder if their reporting has a built in bias since they are
out to get customers to invest in their funds.
Getting back to people who have been coding for almost thirty years
and debugging etc..If they predict disaster..whom should one listen
to?
I do know that my friends who have been in programming for many many
moons are not update on the companies that offer remediation and are
not aware of their technology...do these technologies offer the "magic
easy fix"..I assume that you have many contacts in the field ..what
actually do they say?
RE:low unemployment numbers...I really wish the government would release a breakdown of salaries..not an average of mean..but actually
publish..what percent of the population is getting what in pay..
ie..with these low numbers..how many workers are getting low pay..
I, of course am guessing, but I have assumed that the past few years
have created a two class society..my bills are all going up...
ie telephone with all the extra charges now..fcc fees etc..my cable
bills..food shopping..vet bills..rent..public transportation came down
abit..but there was a substantial rise over the past few years so it
is still a lot higher..even after the modest decrease..taxis are much
higher..theater tickets...of course health care premiums..
I just switched long distance carrier..I was shocked to hear the different fcc fees companies charged..
I don't understand a lot of things..
I don't understand why nobody for instance interviews hotbot for instance..that is the search engine I use along with altavista..
geez infoseek etc don't scan for individual pages..
I don't understand why aol has so many customers since they force you
to read so much advertising and one supposedly gets bombarded with
junk mail where a pure internet provider with these friendly browswers
makes the web so easy and now with yahoo and others having their own
free chat groups and with all the user groups..and with all the
resources to provide one with research and with all the cheaper internet providers..
don't understand why there is so much todo about microsoft's including
their browser when anyone can download for free Netscape or use Opera
for a trial period..don't understand why they don't just focus on
Microsoft's press releases aout releasing new products to possibly
kill other companies that have the product and then not releasing
the products if that is true..or Microsoft's gobbling up content
providers..
anyways heard on Bloomberg news that they are offering for free for
temporary time there energy research on net..
