From IBD:

"Semiconductor maker Jabil Circuit rose 1 7/8 to 41 1 1/16. BT Alex. Brown upgraded it to ''strong buy'' from ''buy.'' The stock
was recently listed on the Big Board. The firm has a 97 EPS rank. Net should be up 39% for the fiscal year ending Aug. 30,
according to analysts."

We should see 50 soon.

Darn sold my May 35's too early today. With the market looking very weak I didnt want to take the chance. The last time I tried playing this, got stuck with 4000 shares @ 43 and ended up selling at 34. Good thing I had the MAR 40 puts which let me live to fight another day. Now if I remember correctly from last year, JBL always went up a buck or two each day for months at a time, But the high open intrest in the calls makes me nervous that the option writters will try to lower the price so they dont have to pay up or loose their shares.
Something else I am playing in is VVUS, with the Viagra hype the stocks dropped from 40 to 10, and as of a few days ago, there are no more shares left to short. In the last month the short intrest has gone from 10 to most likely 20mil, It moves 50% from 8 to 12 real fast so easy money to be made either long or short. (well no more shares to short so buy when it looks ready to pop).

It was a long winters wait for jabil to turn around. I stayed long but have laid off the options so far in 1998. Bought May 40 calls at 37 and june 45 calls today.
Sansone was playing it conservative by his own admission when he predicted flat earnings. personally I expect that with the recent strenghth in quantums DLT as well as some of their other customers that earnings will be over .50. Plus the time of year is right. Last year at this time I remember how hard it was to find a stock with good numbers, this year is worse. The bonus would be if jabil finally announces a big aquisition. Somewhere I remember an announcement that said that any aquisition would have to be immediately accretive to earnings. IMHO sansone is setting the stage for a big earnings suprise or an aquisition suprise at earnings time. I just cant imagine him going to the New york exchange without a plan to take advantage of the momentum.
