Ryan -------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday May 14, 9:50 am Eastern Time Company Press Release The Panda Project Announces VSPA Prototype Orders BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 14, 1998--The Panda Project Inc. (Nasdaq:PNDA - news) Thursday announced that it has received two new prototype orders for its VSPA(tm) semiconductor package. Shipment of the completed prototypes is expected to occur in June 1998. Production volumes are expected late in the third quarter. The customer names and products are being kept confidential until the products are officially announced. One of the products is being produced on Panda's VSPA Flex automated assembly machine, while the other will use a new dedicated, high volume machine at the Panda North facility in Boca Raton. Stanford W. Crane Jr., president and CEO of The Panda Project Inc. said: ''There are many reasons a semiconductor company chooses to use VSPA, but they all add up to better value. One of the customers is using a VSPA 360 because due to its superior thermal performance and a lower total applied cost of the package. The other customer is using VSPA as a multichip module platform and found the performance and cost benefits to be compelling.'' Crane added, ''The customers represent suppliers to the telecom/datacom markets.''
