Hmmm. Maybe Jobs expects to fulfill the original vision for
the NeXT cube. Not out of the question. How long will it be
before 20x/8x R/W CD units cost about 2x CDROM price?
Another year?

iMac update

Sources have reported on several subjects related to the iMac:

There will indeed be a USB floppy drive available (confirmed), most likely as a build-to-order option.

The iMac will be fully custom-configurable at the Apple Store and through resellers.

One option which is still being explored (although not seriously, according to one source) is a two-button version of Apple's cool USB mouse.

266Mhz and faster versions of the iMac are easily possible.

Sources have confirmed that the video system on the iMac is indeed an ATI Rage II system with 64-bit 2D and 3D acceleration.

Similarly to other Apple SDRAM-based systems, 128Mb is not the real RAM limit. With RAM makers now planning 384Mb and 512Mb SDRAM DIMMS in a size/voltage that the Gossamer-series motherboard can accept, the iMac will probably be able to hold 512mb of SDRAM or more.
