WASHINGTON, May 8 (Reuters) - State attorneys general will
not halt the launch of Windows 98 but intend to challenge
restrictions that Microsoft Corp. wants to place on
computer makers, a source close to their discussions said on
Friday.
The source said the attorneys general would oppose the
"exploitation of Windows 98 for monopolistic purposes, which
might require some change in the marketing of the product if
not its basic structure. The objective is not necessarily to
block or forestall any particular product from release or sale."
