>>would you buy a computer with no external storage?<<

I would buy the iMac for my receptionist. My guess is that you are going to see a hell of a lot of iMacs in receptionist areas, in school classrooms, and in dorm rooms on College campuses. The need for external storage is is being replaced by networking. An awful lot of college dorms are now completely ethernet. There is a growing need for a NetPC. The iMac is a serious step in this direction.

However, any external storage would only enhance the computing experience. Sony HiFi would serve perfectly with its floppy-compatibility (still the #1 removable media for sharing files), and with 200MB superfloppy discs.

The iMac's keyboard is a USB hub, so there is no need to reach behind the back of the computer. Just simply plug and play USB right there into the keyboard. Ultra-cool.

So, to answer your question, yes, yes I would. For pure net-surfing, the iMac is a really cool device. But I would consider buying an external storage USB device (my choice- Sony HiFi USB), one that could be taken to other USB computers and attatched on the fly. The HTML guy in the studio here has a brand new Gateway laptop with USB ports. Hmmm....
